A Christmas typing activity to start right now!

I’ve always loved a good bit of healthy competition.

Over the years, though, I’ve come to realize that there is no one I enjoy competing against more than myself.

No other form of competition is quite so personal and motivating in my mind.

And it makes sense. Studies show that human beings are innately motivated by personal improvement, especially if they have a visual way to track their progress.

Just look at how many gadgets and apps have sprung up to allow us to track everything from our daily steps to how much money we’ve invested.

With this week’s classroom typing activity, you can harness the motivation of self-competition and progress tracking AND get ready for the holiday season all at once!

In this activity, each time a student logs a new personal best WPM, he or she will get to add a paper snowflake to a designated wall of your classroom.

Kids will love to see all the snowflakes they’ve racked up and even the fastest typists in your class will have the motivation to improve.
